Definition of pathetic ...

me driving around town paying the car rego and whatnot, and seeing a number plate DMP, and immediately thinking "Doublemeat Palace", and then a bit further on seeing another number plate FFL ("Fool For Love" of course), and then spending the rest of my trip looking for more number plates to fit a Buffy episode.  Note to self: please find a life.

Brief thoughts on TV (no spoilers) - thoroughly enjoyed both Veronica Mars (wah, only one more episode left), and Lost (I'm still not sure what to make of Locke), and didn't even bother downloading Gilmore Girls - I think, sadly, that it has not only jumped the shark, but also may have been eaten by it.  Haven't watch all of it but LMAO at the opening scene in the new series of Family Guy:

"Everyone, I've got bad news," says Peter "We've been cancelled."
"Oh, no, Peter," responds wife Lois. "How could they do that?"
"Unfortunately, there's no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That '80s Show, Wonderfalls, Fastlane, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Skin, Girls Club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real,  Freakylinks, Wanda at Large, Costello, The Lone Gunmen,  A Minute With Stan Hooper, Normal, Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddie, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric the Entertainer, The Tick, Luis' and Greg the Bunny. But I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes, we might have a shot."

Heh, heh, still makes me laugh ...

I may have you beat on the need to get a life... if I'm on the subway past dark, I half expect to see Spike running down the train car. After that, things get a little fuzzy and X-rated, but yeah, it's a definite ever-present thought in the back of my mind.

And the beginning of Family Guy was hilarious... I think Gabe and I laughed for the full half an hour of the show just from that beginning... the thing was, I loved Greg the Bunny and Firefly, too, but I didn't even realize until then that they were on the "because Family Guy got cancelled" list, dammit. But yeah, it was completely hysterical.

Now there's an image. Maybe I'll keep my life, now I know someone else has a similar mindset.

Worst bit of the Family Guy list - we only got to see about four or five of the shows down here. God, they are just started playing Tru Calling at the end of last year, and then a huge gap, and now it's back on for the last few eps. Thank the powers-that-be for bit torrents!
Oh yeah. Spike could show up on my train car ANY old day... we could give Risky Business a run for its money.

Some of the shows on the Family Guy list, you didn't miss much. Greg the Bunny and Firefly I adore (although I only watched Firefly after it came out on DVD)... and oh, my poor, gorgeous Tru. *pets my Tru* They cancelled her so mercilessly here... and I love her so. We've already gotten the last one they're going to show... apparently there's one more in the can that they're not going to broadcast. Grr. But they are putting the epis they have of the second season on to a DVD set, so that's good news, and I think it's supposed to be out soon. So small silver lightning to that big ol' Fox network cloud.

Now I've got that soundtrack in my head - may have to go put it in. My husband was a fan of Tangerine Dream long before the movie, and he swears that it is the music that he enjoys in the train scene - sure, sure ...

Think we may get the chance to see all of Tru's eps - will be interesting to see if that is the case.
LOL... I echo your "sure, sure..." on your hubby... although Tangerine Dream did some damn fine stuff. They soundtracked Near Dark too, and the music helped make that move really incredible.

Hope you get to see all of Tru... I'm *really* bitter about the last episode getting yanked. Stupid Fox. *grumbles*

Wish you all luck with it, though... I'm left to hold out for the DVDs.
So ... what ... they showed some of the S2 eps, then stopped? I'd grumble too. We just saw the ep where you learn Brandon Jack is the opposite of Tru, only 6 months after the last ep aired. Grrr Arrgh ... TV stations make me so mad sometimes.
Yep... they showed all but the last one that they had in the can... decided we needed more Paris Hilton stupidity instead.

The thing is, season 2 was really shaping up to be strong, and then they booted it... they have no foresight or nurturing anymore. Sigh.
no foresight or nurturing anymore
I've certainly read opinions here and there that in the current climate even Buffy would've made it past S1 or S2. I miss those sort of shows, something with intelligence, humour and a touch of quirkiness - thank heavens for dvds!
LOL... I got you. Buffy absolutely wouldn't have made it in this climate--and Angel wouldn't've had a full first season, either, I don't think. It's pretty atrocious--the procedural dramas and the reality shows are seemingly all they want to make. Gotta say, it's giving me time to write fic like never before, just because there's nothing to watch.

Bwahahaha! That was my favorite part too.
